Since 1908, we have grown fresh fruits and vegetables at the corner of 4th avenue and 7th street in St. Catharines, Ontario. Last year we celebrate our 100th year in agriculture.
We are pleased to offer you quality produce from our fields with a focus on taste, nutrition and friendly service. We offer a unique variety of fresh, sweet and healthy fruits and vegetables, as well as a colourful selection of flowers. Located in rural west end of St. Catharines, the Garden City, we are nestled at the base of the Niagara escarpment in the heart of Canada's picturesque Niagara Region. We are a one hour drive from Toronto along the shore of Lake Ontario and we are open to the public Monday to Saturday from May to October. Current production includes strawberries, sweet cherries, apricots, peaches, nectarines, grapes, pears, plums, raspberries, blackberries, kiwi, melons and vegetables as well as specialty products including jam, maple syrup and honey.
Our on farm bakery is becoming a very special component of our operation and it allows us to connect with the community in a new way. Whitty Farms also offers its customers the pleasure of enjoying ripe strawberries, plump juicy raspberries or tree ripened peaches piled atop vanilla soft serve ice cream. Customers may relax on the deck looking over the raspberry fields or wander the market while they take pleasure in their ice cream treats. We are also proud to be part of the Niagara culinary trail.
Whitty Farms is excited to partner with Thirteenth Street Winery, one of the best wineries in Ontario. This summer we invite you to celebrate with us as we welcome you to the new retail site for the Thirteenth Street Winery. www.13thstreetwinery.com
At Whitty Farms we strive to offer our customers a FULL EXPRESSION OF THE LAND.
On our farm, the Environmental Farm Plan has helped us to utilize better irrigation technology to reduce our water and fertilizer usage. We have also modified our pest management so that we have improved our application efficiency while reducing spray drift, fuel consumption and soil compaction. A third initiative which we have taken under this program is to utilize netting instead of acoustic scaring devices to protect our grape crop from the devastation of bird predation! Our neighbours really like this last one.
We appreciate when the community supports farmers by making the choice to buy local whenever possible.
Our goals for the future include:
It will be another year of new beginnings, tradition & celebration. We look forward sharing our 101th year in agriculture with you.
We are optimistic about the future. Eat well. Live Well.
